*Pacific Haven Subacute and Healthcare Center - DSD Role* If you love teaching as much as you love nursing and believe great care starts with great training, this might be your calling. We are looking for a *Director of Staff Development (DSD)* to plan, lead, and energize our in service education and orientation programs. This role is ideal for a licensed nurse who enjoys mentoring others, staying on top of regulations, and helping teams grow while occasionally providing direct resident care as well. *What You Will Do* As our Director of Staff Development, you will be the driving force behind staff education and ongoing training. Responsibilities include: * Planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating in service and on the job training programs * Leading orientation programs for new hires including policies, procedures, and resident rights * Supporting nursing leadership alongside the Assistant Director of Nursing * Ensuring staff compliance with required OSHA, CDC, TB, and bloodborne pathogen training * Assisting licensed staff in maintaining required continuing education and licensure * Maintaining accurate training records and ensuring documentation is provided to HR * Working with consultants and department leaders to meet training needs * Participating in Quality Assurance initiatives related to staff education * Keeping education programs current with changing California and federal regulations * Providing direct resident care when not performing DSD responsibilities as required by law * Managing sick calls with the support of your DSD assistant * Creating a positive, respectful, and calm learning environment for all staff *What You Bring* * Active RN/LVN license valid in *California* * Minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience in a hospital, SNF, or related healthcare setting * High School Diploma or equivalent * Strong communication, leadership, computer, and teaching skills * Knowledge of nursing practices, healthcare regulations, and SNF requirements * Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations * Comfort making independent decisions and supervising staff *Work Environment and Schedule* * Work performed in office settings and throughout the facility * Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions * Occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, on call availability, or emergency call back as needed * Exposure to typical healthcare conditions including infectious materials and cleaning agents *Why This Role Matters* Your work directly supports staff confidence, regulatory compliance, and most importantly, quality resident care.
