*JOB SUMMARY*: Schedule: Sunday 9am-9pm Mon 11am-9pm Tues 11am-9pm Wed 9am-5pm The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing services for the Rancho San Antonio (RSA) Infirmary Department. This role includes medical assessment, clinical care coordination, medication management oversight, health education, and collaboration with interdisciplinary treatment teams and external medical providers within scope of practice. The RN practices within the scope defined by the California Board of Registered Nursing and provides services through a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and youth-centered approach. The RN ensures compliance with state, county, Medi-Cal, and licensing requirements and supports the overall physical, emotional, and mental health needs of youth residing at RSA. *JOB DUTIES*: · Provide and oversee nursing care within the RN scope of practice, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. · Conduct comprehensive health assessments and ongoing monitoring of youth medical conditions. · Oversee, coordinate, and evaluate medication management systems, including ordering, storage, preparation, administration, monitoring, and documentation. · Assist with all programs and licensing medical documentation requirements, including portal uploads and tracking of required timelines. · Communicate provider recommendations, restrictions, and follow-up plans to interdisciplinary teams. · Administer medications and treatments in compliance with physician orders, agency policy, and nursing standards. · Respond to and manage medical emergencies, including triage, first aid, and coordination with emergency services. Provide on-site nursing assessment for acute medical concerns and coordinate appropriate level of care · This position counts toward staff/child ratios, even when other Direct Care Staff from the living unit are present, and will also allow for increased and special supervision due to the high risk behaviors displayed by the youth placed in care. · This position is responsible for applying the reasonable and prudent parent standard to decisions involving the participation of the youth in age and developmentally appropriate activities. · Coordinate medical appointments, follow-up care, and referrals with external providers. · Monitor psychotropic and non-psychotropic medications for effectiveness, side effects, and adherence. · Ensure accurate, timely documentation in RSA’s electronic health record system (CareLogic). · Provide trauma-informed care using the ARC Model (Attachment, Regulation, and Competency) and Integrated Core Practice Model (ICPM). · Role model trauma-informed care principles for direct care and clinical staff. · Provide health education, training, and consultation to youth, families, and staff regarding health conditions, medications, and wellness. · Collect and analyze health-related data to support treatment planning and quality improvement. · Support the care of youth requiring bed rest or enhanced medical monitoring. · Provide culturally sensitive, strength-based behavior support consistent with RSA policies. · Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, treatment planning, and case reviews. · Perform additional allied duties as assigned. *JOB QUALIFICATIONS*: * Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California * Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN required) * Current CPR and First Aid certification · Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Word, and Excel. · Must fulfill all requirements of employment, including clearance of all required background records (e.g., Department of Justice, Child Abuse, California Community Care Licensing, County Sanction List, etc.), professional reference checks, physical examination with TB test, vaccinations (or authorized exemptions), and drug screening. · Clearance of TB test, fingerprints, and any other mandatory state/federal licensing or certification requirements. *PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:* · Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) · Bilingual English/Spanish * Experience working with children, adolescents, or high-risk youth * Experience in residential treatment, behavioral health, psychiatric, urgent care, or community health settings * Supervisory or charge nurse experience * Knowledge of psychotropic medications and psychiatric nursing * Familiarity with Medi-Cal documentation and billing * Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and communication skills *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:* In the course of performing this job, the incumbent must be able lift to 40 pounds. Will also require bending, stooping, filing, frequent sitting, twisting, typing, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Occasional traveling, driving, walking, standing, grasping, pulling, pushing, and reaching.
