Primary Duties And Responsibilities Functions as the clinical resource for patients and staff for ostomy, Continence Disorders, Acute and Chronic Wound and Skin breakdown and Fistulae. Provides direct wound and ostomy care in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Provides patient/family teaching and instruction of wound and ostomy management both pre and post operatively. Assists the healthcare team in the evaluation of skin and wound products and equipment along with providing educational programs, in-services and bedside teaching for the nursing staff. Stays up-to-date with skin care practices and shares advances in wound and skin care assessments, evaluations, treatments and prevention measures. Assesses all patients with a pressure injury staged at a 3 or above and sees all patients that have developed a hospital acquired pressure inury (HAPI) and meets appropriate reporting requirements. Assesses overall hospital needs and practices to eliminate HAPIs. Education and Experience Bachelor’s of Nursing (BSN) required. A minimum of four years of clinical experience required. Two years of experience in Wound and Ostomy preferred. License Required Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of California - Current and in good standing. License Preferred N/A Certifications Required Current BLS certification. Must obtain Wound and Ostomy Certification within 12 months Enterostomal Therapy Dept. Must obtain Wound and Ostomy Certification within 24 months Certifications Preferred N/A
