Position Summary The In-Home Respite Worker provides compassionate, high-quality support to individuals requiring assistance with daily living activities. This role focuses on helping clients — particularly individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) — maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life in home or residential settings. The Caregiver works closely with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure holistic, person-centered care. Key Responsibilities: Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and hygiene. Offer companionship and emotional support to promote clients’ comfort, confidence, and well-being. Support mobility and transfers, using appropriate lifting techniques or equipment to ensure safety. Prepare meals, assist with feeding when necessary, and follow prescribed dietary plans. Administer medications as directed and ensure adherence to healthcare routines. Observe and monitor clients’ physical and emotional condition, promptly reporting any changes to supervisors or healthcare professionals. Assist with light housekeeping tasks, including laundry, cleaning, and general organization of living spaces. Provide transportation for clients to medical appointments, errands, or social activities when needed. Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of care provided, daily activities, and client condition. Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity and quality of care. Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain strict confidentiality regarding client information. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Previous experience as a caregiver or in a healthcare setting is advantageous. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to follow individualized care plans and professional instructions accurately. Physical ability to lift, transfer, and support clients safely. Compassionate, patient, and dependable nature. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if responsible for client transport). Successful completion of a background check and drug screening may be required. Working Conditions: Primary work environment is the client’s home or residential care facility. Flexibility required, including availability for weekends, evenings, and holidays. Must be able to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and assisting with client mobility.
