JOB Nursing functions include but are not limited to First Aid, CPR, administration of medications, specialized healthcare procedures and techniques, signs and symptoms of child abuse, infection control procedures, hazardous waste management, record keeping and reporting requirements.Performs general office and clerical duties requiring the ability to interpret and apply procedures and policies to assigned responsibilities. Positions are 8 hours per day and are 10 months per year at elementary schools, and 11 months per year at secondary schools. All positions include district-paid benefits for the employee and dependents. New employees in this classification are hired at an advanced step of the salary schedule. A VALID STATE OF CALIFORNIA LICENSE OF VOCATIONAL NURSING OR REGISTERED NURSING MUST BE SCANNED AND ATTACHED TO THE ON-LINE APPLICATION. A more complete list of duties and responsibilities for this classification can be found on our website at www.gusd.net: https://www.schooljobs.com/careers/gusd/classspecs.-When assigned to the Health Office, renders minor first aid; updates and files student health records; maintains health office equipment and supplies in a clean and usable condition; prepares first-aid kits for use by classroom teachers; assists nurses in working on state mandated programs; prepares and displays health education materials. May assist in transporting ill or injured students or employees on District property.-Administers blood pressure monitoring, catheterization, diabetic monitoring, gastrostomy tube feeding, gastrostomy tube reinsertion, feeding or medicating, mechanical ventilation care, oxygen administration, respiratory assistance with inhaler or mechanical nebulizer, tracheostomy care including cleaning, suctioning and tube replacement, toileting assistance, diapering.-Ensures all specialized healthcare procedures are provided under specified written authorizations approved by an authorized healthcare provider and school nurse with parent's written consent.-Administers prescribed medications according to instructions and district policies.-Administers emergency healthcare plans as designated by the credentialed school nurse, parent and authorized healthcare provider.-Participates in IEP meetings if requested by the credentialed school nurse.-Consults with credentialed school nurse regarding first aid and emergency care of assigned students.-Performs clerical work including proofreading, light typing, filing, checking and recording information on records; sorts, codes, and files correspondence, vouchers, forms, documents, and other materials numerically, alphabetically or by another predetermined classification.-Checks records and papers for clerical and mathematical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards and procedures.-Acts as a receptionist, accepts applications for school services, answers the telephone and gives information to the general public; receives and refers inquires to appropriate staff.-Maintains sections of a central records system; enters or extracts information on or from records using a computer terminal.-Performs related duties as assigned. Qualified candidates will be provided with more details prior to the start of the examination process.Probationary Period: 130 days of paid service.Prior to employment, a candidate must submit proof of freedom from tuberculosis.
