we are currently looking for SUMMER TIME position V. is a beautiful 9-year-old diagnosed with a variety of disabilities. Her parents are looking for a Caregiver or Respite worker to support her at her home in the 90503 area. Currently Part time available currently with potential to increase hours. Ideal hours are 9-2 M- F -->But can be flexible and more hours maybe available. You will be assisting V. with daily activities, including hands-on support with bathing and other hygiene, toileting, and daily care needs. V. does not use words to communicate, is not able to independently mobilize (most of the time), and has diagnoses including epilepsy and Cortical Visual Impairment. She requires constant, awake, alert, and engaged supervision and support to ensure her safety, including the redirection of challenging behaviors. _Due to V’s diagnoses, she receives funding from the Harbor Regional Center (https://www.harborrc.org) to meet her needs and for this service and staff. She is part of the Self-Determination Program (https://www.harborrc.org/self-determination-program-sdp), which is why her family can select their own staff. Specifically, you will be hired by a Financial Management Service (FMS), as a W-2 employee paid hourly at a rate between $25.00 and $30.00 per hour, depending on experience; payment will be twice per month. You must be able to pass a background check (LiveScan) for this position. _ Please see below to learn more about V. and determine if you are the person XXXX and her family need! *V IS:* · The oldest of three children, with two working parents. · Very active, particularly if she feels like she is being ignored. · Sensory seeking; this is not a good position for you if you are not okay with being touched and touching her as needed. · Adored by her family · Participating in a variety of services & therapies that you will be expected to engage in if they happen while you are there, i.e. Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Music Therapy, etc… *YOU NEED TO: * · Be able to lift and carry at least 45pounds on a regular basis, due to V’s need for support with ambulation, transfers, and personal care, as well as her sensory seeking nature requiring physical interventions. · Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as V. is very susceptible to illnesses. · Be culturally sensitive; V's parents are of Chinese & Korean backgrounds. · Be active & engaged with V. This is not the job for you if you want to be able to be on your phone and not check in with her. Even though it doesn’t look like she’s responding to you, V. wants to hear you talking to her and being emotionally & physically present. · Be comfortable working, and intervening with, individuals with seizures, as well as providing food, water, and medication orally/via syringe. · Be flexible and patient. · Be reliable and on-time, as the family is depending on you and really needs your help. *V. NEEDS:* · Constant supervision, especially if she is upset; she can unintentionally injure herself if overstimulated and/or not feeling well. · Physical redirection when she is engaging in a challenging behavior. · Assistance maintaining good hygiene, including due to vomiting that occurs frequently. The successful applicant for this position will be expected to ensure the ongoing cleanliness of her medical equipment and her room as a whole.
