Selection Procedure FILING DEADLINE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED District Classified application and supplemental form must be submitted to the Personnel Commission Office. SELECTION PROCEDURE: This is an OPEN recruitment to establish an eligibility list, fill vacancies and hire substitutes. Substitutes work on an as-needed basis to fill in for absent employees. The eligibility list will be used to fill permanent vacancies which may occur during the life of the eligibility list. Positions in this classification are part-time (30-35 hours per week), 10 months per year, 205 days. The recruitment process will consist of a written examination and an oral technical interview. (Click here for more information on the recruitment process) (Download PDF reader) (Download PDF reader) Basic Function Under the direct supervision of an assigned supervisor and the immediate or indirect guidance by a Credentialed School Nurse, perform required duties as outlined in the Individual Health Services Plan (IHSP) for the student(s), such as monitoring seizures, administering injections as appropriate, assisting with student’s personal hygiene, and providing instructional assistance as stipulated; provides first aid and emergency health assistance to students; perform a variety of clerical work in updating and maintaining student health records, assist in the daily operation of the school health office, and do related work as required. Education & Experience Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and graduation from an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurses Training Program and two years of experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in a health or hospital related position and clerical experience. Experience in a public school district is desirable. Licenses and Other Requirements Possession of: Valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse license. Valid First Aid, CPR and AED Certification from the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA). A valid California driver’s license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites may be required.
