You will be assisting M. with daily activities, like preparing meals, washing dishes, and taking out the trash, but you will also be helping with fun things, such as developing, encouraging, and facilitating leisure skills, accompanying M. to activities and outings, and engaging and joining with him in physical activities (like swimming, jumping, basketball, and tag) at home and in the community. IS: Very intelligent Energetic Happy & in good spirits most of the time (unless there is a demand placed on him) Social; he enjoys engaging with others, particularly adults, and creates cool bonds with people. He will seek out social engagement from those he is comfortable with. Coordinated with good physical strength and “body balance” that is “spot on” YOU NEED TO: Have behavior management experience, or have worked with kids with moderate to severe autism Be fun! M. is fun and it will be better for both of you if you enjoy being with him. Be quick on your feet; M. is fast on his. Be flexible and patient, while remaining firm and giving clear directions. Be able to join in on fun activities, like swimming, jumping, basketball, and tag Be trustworthy and responsible Be savvy & aware of your surroundings, while also remaining open to & aware of non-verbal body language Be a self-starter who is social & loves to connect Be socially & emotionally mature, able to self-initiate, with common knowledge and the ability to solve problems while offering mentoring and support to M. Be committed to working with M. on an ongoing basis. Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour Work Location: In person
