*Job Summary* The Direct Support Professional II plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life. This position involves assisting clients with daily living activities, promoting independence, and fostering a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the lives of those they serve while demonstrating patience and understanding. *Duties* * Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. * Provide personal care and support in various settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or in-home care. * Monitor and document patient behavior, vital signs, and changes in condition to ensure appropriate care is provided. * Implement care plans tailored to individual needs and preferences while adhering to HIPAA regulations. * Prepare meals and assist with cooking while considering dietary restrictions and preferences. * Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being. * Perform light cleaning duties to maintain a safe and hygienic living environment. * Administer medications as prescribed and assist with medical appointments when necessary. * Provide support for individuals with specific needs such as autism. *Skills* * First aid and CPR certification is preferred. * Experience in group home settings or similar environments is highly desirable. * Strong patient observation skills with the ability to recognize changes in behavior or health status. * Background in home & community care or assisted living is beneficial. * Proficient in patient monitoring techniques and understanding of medication administration protocols. * Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility challenges. * Knowledge of caregiving principles including meal preparation and care planning. * Familiarity with long-term care practices and social work principles is advantageous. * Compassionate approach towards working with individuals with disabilities, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
