Charge Nurse LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse)

Job Description

A licensed professional nurse directly under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services responsible for coordinating daily administrative duties of an assigned nursing unit including schedules, nursing assignments, delegation of resident care and supervision of nursing staff. Duties include assuming responsibility and oversight of an assigned nursing unit, providing supervision and support for nursing staff, monitoring for compliance of facility procedures and policies, maintaining safe and efficient shift operations, coordinating resident admissions and discharges, making daily resident rounds, observing and guiding patient care staff, participating in interdisciplinary care plan meetings, ensuring safety and infection control practices, responding to emergencies, ensuring complete documentation, communicating with patients, families and medical staff, meeting regularly with unit personnel, reviewing and evaluating assigned personnel, coordinating nursing services with other departments, participating in quality assurance programs, ensuring HIPAA compliance, participating in infection control programs, orienting new staff, and attending facility meetings and in-services.
