A licensed professional nursing facility providing long-term care services to residents, where licensed professional nurses work under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services to deliver comprehensive patient care including clinical assessments, medication administration, care planning, and resident supervision in accordance with applicable standards, policies, and procedures. A licensed professional nurse directly under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services that provides care and services to residents in a long-term care setting. The nurse provides nursing care as prescribed by physician/health care professional in accordance with the legal scope of practice, administers professional services and provide care consistent with allowing residents to attain or maintain his or her highest practicable physical, mental, and emotional well-being utilizing the nursing process of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. Duties include admitting, transferring, and discharging residents; conducting daily resident rounds; recording care information accurately; initiating and updating resident Plans of Care; preparing and administering medications; completing medical treatments; ensuring narcotic security; ordering medications and supplies; arranging diagnostic and therapeutic services; attending facility meetings; reporting allegations of abuse; initiating emergency procedures; participating in infection control programs; supervising CNAs; making resident rounds to ensure appropriate care; assisting in nursing assignments; treating residents and families with dignity and respect; and participating in quality assurance programs.
